
Anthony David Gonzalez was conceived in Torrance on February 27, 1976. He grew up in southern California and attended Huntington Beach High School, where he was a star athlete on both the basketball and football teams. Gonzalez was a star in these sports at University of California, Berkeley. He played a key role in leading the team's football team to 1996 Aloha Bowl. There, Gonzalez set a record in the school for receptions with nine, and was able to tie it. In the following months, Gonzalez played with the basketball team to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA basketball tournament. Gonzalez was selected to the NFL Draft in 1997. Gonzalez was selected as the 13th overall selection by the Kansas City Chiefs. Gonzalez was a player for the Chiefs from 1997 to 2008. The Chiefs traded Gonzalez to the Atlanta Falcons. He was never able to catch less than 59 passes in Gonzalez's second NFL season.
