An ex-fashion model of the top class who was 5'10'' in height, Carey was an a fan favorite of top American designers such as Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. In 1979, the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists voted her father Scientist of the Year. Carey was raised across the globe due to her father's work. When she was a student at in the University of Colorado, Carey began modeling on the side. The Ford Model Agency in New York noticed her and was willing to assist. The model briefly studied and lived in Paris before returning back to New York. Her modeling and academic career rocketed and she was featured on Glamour's, Vogue's and a variety of other magazines' covers. As a model, she went to New York University full-time to earn a master's degree in literature. Following a few years, she developed an passion for acting.
